Introduction to the Project

In our society we are living longer, healthier lives than earlier generations.  This is no accident.  It is the combined result of many factors – nutrition, early diagnosis of disease, and more effective treatments.  It is scientific fact, not fiction, to anticipate that children born today will enjoy a life expectancy over 100.  With care and entirely ethical medical interventions, healthy young-middle-aged Australians of today can expect to live high-quality, active lives well into their nineties, remaining mentally alert and mobile, even sexually active if they wish.

The NeoGenesis Project is based upon the belief that modern citizens are under-informed about these developments and their implications.  The project plans to address that information shortfall and to carve a pathway into the healthy-ageing future based on science, medicine and real case studies, not hype, fads and half-truth mumbo jumbo.

Project Aims

The Neogenesis project aims to inform and guide consumers on the selection of a best practice pathway to slowing their ageing process.  The three key outcomes of the project will be:

  • A consumer-driven ‘how to’ guide to anti-ageing medicine.
  • The development of a best-practice methodology for the delivery of anti-ageing medicine (AAM) based on today’s best-practices and knowledge.
  • The maintenance and evolution of that methodology into the future based on evidence, and using qualified research.

To identify the information requirements and communications gaps in the delivery of AAM, we are enrolling patients (we will call them ‘patients’, but think of them just as consumers and citizens) to be part of our project.  We are looking for motivated people from 30 to 60 years of age to participate in a highly structured service delivery and feedback process.  These will be people who share the achievable vision of slowing and controlling, even arresting the ageing process and will (after a process of coming to understand and trust us and our project) allow us to case-manage their various tests, recommended activities and treatments for the duration of the project and thereby become the source of real-life, case-based material for the book we are preparing and the research underpinning it.

The book will not be an academic tome, but a handbook that assists the ordinary consumer to know what choices are available, how they can select between them and the optimum timing for those choices.

The Neogenesis project is not aligned with any brand or particular healthcare approach and, accordingly, the book will not promote any single healthcare modality.  It  will provide the requisite support for the reader to navigate effectively the available choices for 'anti-ageing'.

Because of the relationship we will develop, this process will ensure that our patients’ core clinical objectives will be met, and their personal ‘soft’ objectives are identified too.  We expect to deliver, to the limits of what is presently achievable, their desired outcomes, maximising their chances of achieving their chosen pathway over an extended period of time.  All patients will have a case manager working in conjunction with project doctors and allied health practitioners.  We are pleased to acknowledge that Dr Russell Cooper is the principal medical officer involved at this stage and others will become involved as the project unfolds.

Our profile of our initial participants anticipates they will be early adopters who are willing to undergo the latest tests and treatments.  It is important to stress, though, that these will be normal people, not health ‘junkies’.  They will be well-balanced, educated consumers who, based on knowledge and thoughtful planning,  want to take their healthcare to the next level to optimise wellbeing and mitigate their risks of ill-health, decrepitude and loss of life-style as they age.  They will be open-minded and keen to see what can be achieved.

The NeoGenesis project will be supported by independent, expert-based, research-backed information and methodologies.  By following the process developed via the project and outlined in the book,  participants will optimise their chances of efficaciously and safely lifting their standard of health and wellbeing and, in some cases, extending their life beyond current expectations.
